Why does the Nut Matters as Much as the Screw
Most customers think about the lead screw and treat the nut as an afterthought. In practice, the nut determines wear rate, running friction, load capacity, and how long the drive system lasts before it needs replacing. A mismatched nut — wrong material, wrong thread fit, wrong engagement length — will fail well before the screw does.
We machine metal lead screw nuts to suit your thread — whether that’s a standard Tr or ACME designation, or a worn screw you’ve sent us for reverse engineering. Split nut designs available for applications requiring replacement access or field adjustment. Our nuts are machined from solid raw material bars (e.g. metal, engineering plastic polymers) to your thread specification.

• Flanged Bronze Nut (most common)
A full-length nut machined from phosphor bronze with a flanged base for housing mounting. The internal thread is bored and threaded to match your lead screw — whether a standard designation or a reverse-engineered profile from a worn sample. Bronze is the traditional lead screw nut material for a reason: it is softer than the steel screw, so the nut wears sacrificially and protects the screw. Replacing a worn nut is faster and cheaper than replacing a worn screw.
Machined from phosphor bronze (PB1 or PB2), or any other preferred material, the nut body is cylindrical with a square or round flange — your choice depending on your housing design. The internal thread is bored and cut to your exact Tr or ACME specification, and flange mounting holes are drilled to your drawing. A grease nipple port can be incorporated on request for applications requiring periodic lubrication.
• Split Nut (adjustment & replacement)
Machined in two halves from a material optimized for your application, the split nut clamps around the lead screw and is drawn together by bolts. The internal thread is bored to your Tr or ACME specification, with clearance set by fastener torque at installation.
The design is particularly suited to confined machines where the lead screw cannot be removed for servicing, allowing the nut to be swapped out laterally without disturbing the surrounding assembly. No springs, no elastomers — a purely mechanical construction built for industrial environments.
